Prosena siberita

Apart from the common housefly, there are several speices of flies that are interesting
enough to be captured on camera.
I found one with a proboscis genus Prosena siberita that feeds only on nectar.
This discovery was made in the Taman Rimba Kiara during a macro photography workshop.
Our trainer Mr Kurt spotted the bug on a tree trunk and the guys who attended his workshop wasted no time at all capturing it on their camera.
The 'moment' for me is a shot of the fly drooling and the rest was history..
I also learned that the focusing control method for 1:1 magnification is manual and the EF100mm F2.8L IS does it with ease.
